Job summary

Hospice of Chattanooga is seeking an Inpatient Unit Registered Nurse (RN) to provide compassionate, patient-centered care for hospice patients needing intensive pain and symptom management, end-of-life care, or inpatient respite services. Schedule: 7pm-7am.

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted RN license.
  • Minimum of one year RN experience in medical-surgical, acute care, or related setting.
  • Hospice experience preferred (or required where state regulations apply).
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current CPR certification if required by state regulations.
  • Strong clinical assessment and pain and symptom management skills.
  • Experience using electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to hospice patients requiring intensive pain and symptom management, end-of-life care, or inpatient respite services.
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care that promote comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, wound care, and other skilled nursing interventions while monitoring patient response and adjusting care as needed.
  • Assess changes in patient condition, communicate clinical findings promptly, and collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Educate patients and families on hospice philosophy, disease progression, medications, pain and symptom management, and available support resources.
  • Coordinate admissions, transfers, discharges, and care transitions to ensure seamless continuity of care.
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient outcomes in the EMR.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, social workers, chaplains, pharmacists, and other team members to deliver hospice care.
  • Serve as a clinical leader by mentoring and supporting fellow caregivers, promoting teamwork, and contributing to quality improvement and professional development.
  • Maintain compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation, state regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to hospice patients requiring intensive pain and symptom management, end-of-life care, or inpatient respite services.
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care that promote comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

$70,000 - $80,000 per year (Average Pay Range). The pay range listed represents a general posting guideline for the role and is not a fixed offer. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and the specific responsibilities of the position. The exact compensation rate will be discussed and confirmed at the conclusion of the interview process.
