Qualifications

• For GNT path: temporary appointment while pursuing licensure per policy
• References VA Handbook 5005 Appendix G6
• Foreign educated nurses require equivalency validation
• State license required for appointment and practice

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all elements of the nursing process when providing and supervising direct patient care
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients
• Coordinate care focused on education, self-management, and patient satisfaction
• Administer medications and procedures per policies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to improve care outcomes
• Provide leadership and mentor peers
• Contribute to policy and procedure development and evaluation
