Job summary

The WPPA Nurse Practitioner at White Plains Hospital provides primary care services, including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating and educating patients. Works with physicians and staff in a team approach to patient care. May specialize in pediatrics, geriatrics.

Must hold NYS NP certification (Adult/Geriatric) and RN license, with BCLS/ACLS; two years acute care experience preferred. Role includes discharge planning and hospital-based care responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited school.
• Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Current NYS certification as a Nurse Practitioner (Adult/Geriatric).
• Maintains a current collaborative practice agreement.
• BCLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required as of 6/1/21 for NPs/PAs.
• Minimum two years’ experience in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to performance standards, policies, and behaviors.
• Conducts patient rounds and formulates a therapeutic care plan with physicians.
• Assesses daily plan of care and coordinates actions with the patient’s physician.
• Orders and interprets labs and imaging; maintains contact with labs.
• Performs medication reviews and modifies orders as needed.
• Makes appropriate consult recommendations.
• Communicates plan of care and discharge plan with patient/family.
• Interacts with insurers regarding plan of care and stay; supports discharge planning.
