Job summary

The role involves performing therapeutic exercises and assisting with mobility tasks. You will prepare, clean, and organize the treatment area, document patient responses, and participate in care conferences to help tailor plans.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program and relevant clinical education required
• Basic foundational knowledge of Physical Therapist Assistant Practice required
• PTA - Physical Therapist Assistant certification in New York State upon hire required

Responsibilities

• Administers physical therapy treatments following a Physical Therapist's evaluation. Monitors and documents patient's progress. May supervise and direct the activities of a Physical Therapy Aide.
• Instructs patients in functional activities, including bed mobility activities, transfer training, gait training and other activities of daily living. Instructs patients' families in exercises and treatment and attends family conferences as directed.
• Prepares, sets up, cleans and maintains treatment area and equipment. Observes safety precautions regarding all phases of treatment. Takes inventory and monitors supplies.
• Documents patients' progress and responses to treatment in the medical record.
• Keeps abreast of issues and changes in the field by reading and attending professional meetings and seminars.
