Job summary

TCH Medical Center is seeking an Inpatient Physical Therapist to plan and implement developmental and sports orthopedics PT programs for patients from infancy through adulthood. You will perform evaluations, develop plans of care, document in the EMR, and participate in quality initiatives.

The role includes mentorship of less experienced staff and potential on-call coverage. Respiratory fit testing may be required as part of workplace safety commitments.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Physical Therapy is required.
  • PT certification from the state of Texas is required.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association preferred.
  • 2 years clinical experience OR 1-year medical residency experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes patient evaluations and reassessments according to hospital guidelines.
  • Develops an individualized plan of care based on evaluations.
  • Provides clinical support to assigned outpatient clinic or specialty program.
  • Mentors less experienced staff in their area of specialty as determined by evaluations.
  • Documents patient information in the EMR with minimal errors.
  • Acts as a clinical instructor for at least 1 professional student per year.
  • Raises safety concerns to management and reports unsafe situations.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement activities.

Education

Degree in Physical Therapy
PT certification from the state of Texas
BLS certification from the American Heart Association

Job description

We are searching for an Inpatient Physical Therapist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting who will cover a variety of areas including developmental and sports orthopedics. In this position, you will plan, evaluate, organize and implement Physical Therapy (PT) treatment programs in a developmentally and age-appropriate manner for patients ages 0 - adulthood.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Completes patient evaluations and reassessments in accordance with hospital and department guidelines
  • Develops an individualized plan of care based upon evaluation/reassessment findings according to hospital and departmental guidelines
  • Provides clinical support to assigned outpatient clinic or specialty program
  • Provides successful mentorship opportunities to less experienced staff (in area of specialty) as determined by evaluations completed by the “learner”
  • Documents patient information in Electronic Medical Record according to hospital and departmental guidelines with no more than six (6) errors per year
  • Provides clinical leadership role as a clinical instructor for at least 1 professional student per year
  • Informs manager or designee of all unsafe and potentially unsafe situations, patient/personal injury, anticipated problems and unusual situations
  • Actively participates in the development and gathering of Quality Improvement information

Skills & Requirements
  • Degree in Physical Therapy required
  • PT certification from the state of Texas required

Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to cover on-call on a rotational basis for weekends and holidays
  • Inpatient pediatric experience - NICU, Cardiac, PICU, IRU
  • Willingness to complete car seat educator training - will be paid for by the hospital
