Texas Children’s Hospital in Austin seeks an Inpatient Physical Therapist to support pediatric patients across NICU, Cardiac, PICU, and IRU. You will plan, evaluate, and implement PT treatment programs tailored to each child’s development and age.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Physical Therapy required.
  • PT certification from the state of Texas required.
  • BLS certification from American Heart Association preferred.
  • 2 years clinical experience OR 1-year medical residency experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes patient evaluations and reassessments per guidelines.
  • Develops an individualized plan of care based on evaluations.
  • Provides clinical support to assigned inpatient/outpatient programs.
  • Mentors less experienced staff and students in the area of specialty.
  • Documents patient information in EMR with limited errors.
  • Acts as clinical instructor for at least one professional student per year.
  • Reports unsafe conditions to management.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement initiatives.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Completes patient evaluations and reassessments in accordance with hospital and department guidelines
  • Develops an individualized plan of care based upon evaluation/reassessment findings according to hospital and departmental guidelines
  • Provides clinical support to assigned outpatient clinic or specialty program
  • Provides successful mentorship opportunities to less experienced staff (in area of specialty) as determined by evaluations completed by the “learner”
  • Documents patient information in Electronic Medical Record according to hospital and departmental guidelines with no more than six (6) errors per year
  • Provides clinical leadership role as a clinical instructor for at least 1 professional student per year
  • Informs manager or designee of all unsafe and potentially unsafe situations, patient/personal injury, anticipated problems and unusual situations
  • Actively participates in the development and gathering of Quality Improvement information

Skills & Requirements
  • Degree in Physical Therapy required
  • PT certification from the state of Texas required

Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to cover on‑call on a rotational basis for weekends and holidays
  • Inpatient pediatric experience - NICU, Cardiac, PICU, IRU
  • Willingness to complete car seat educator training - will be paid for by the hospital
