Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands Corporation seeks a Per Diem Phlebotomist to collect and process blood specimens for laboratory testing. You will perform venipuncture and heel sticks, review requisitions in Epic, adhere to aseptic technique, and work with the phlebotomy team onsite at 311 Service Road.

Requires a High School diploma (Phlebotomy certification preferred), 1–2 years inpatient phlebotomy experience, and ability to stand long hours; per diem

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Phlebotomy Certification preferred but not required.
  • 1–2 years inpatient phlebotomy experience required.
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods and transport specimens.
  • Effective communication with phlebotomy team and clinicians.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and process blood specimens from patients.
  • Review completed laboratory requisitions or electronic orders in Epic.
  • Perform venipuncture and heel stick procedures.
  • Ensure proper aseptic technique and specimen handling.
  • Collaborate with the phlebotomy team onsite at all times.

Provides phlebotomy training, product evaluation and new application implementation upon request.Does this position require Patient Care?YesEssential FunctionsDemonstrates the skills and competence for venipuncture procedure.Demonstrates the skills and competence to accurately review completed laboratory requisitions or electronic orders in Epic.Demonstrates the skill and competence necessary to perform heel stick procedures.Demonstrates knowledge of collection criteria: correct vacutainer tubes, volume, stability requirements and/or special handling.Works collaboratively as a member of the phlebotomy team at all times.QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or Equivalent requiredCan this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
