Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Pharmacy Tech II/III for the Hillcrest Inpatient Pharmacy. The role supports pharmacists in preparing medications for patient use (oral and parenteral), distributes meds, handles records and billing, and maintains inventory.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy is required.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) issued by the PTCB is required for Pharmacy Tech III.
• Minimum of two (2) years inpatient Pharmacy Tech experience for Tech II.
• Minimum of five (5) years inpatient Pharmacy Tech experience for Tech III.
• Proven knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.
• Strong computer experience and accurate data entry skills.
• Excellent detail and organizational skills to sort, file and retrieve information.
• Demonstrated ability to manage assigned workload within deadlines.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in preparing medications for patient use (oral and parenteral) according to established procedures.
• Assist in the distribution of medications, record keeping, and billing functions; maintain inventory levels.
• Perform assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and aid pharmacists with medication orders and distribution.
• Assist in best possible medication histories for patients when applicable.
