Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Sterile Compounding Technician to join the Sterile Compounding team at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. This full-time role supports the inpatient pharmacy operations with emphasis on sterile compounding and patient safety.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18+ years old.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Registered as a pharmacy technician with the Nebraska Board of Pharmacy.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification within 12 months of licensure date.
  • Internal Aseptic Technique training completed within two weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sterile compounding according to policy and USP 797/800 standards.
  • Maintain competency with all equipment and programs related to sterile compounding.
  • Assist with medication management, ordering, receiving, and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, hardware, and software related to compounding.
  • Document cleaning and monitoring activities for sterile areas.
  • Collaborate with the team to triage and respond to compounding needs; pursue ongoing training.

Nebraska Medicine is now taking applications for a talented individual to join us as at Nebraska Medicine as a Full-Time Inpatient Pharmacy Sterile Compounding Technician supporting Sterile Compounding team at Nebraska Medical Center at Omaha, NE. An ideal candidate for this role or preference will be given to someone with Sterile compounding background.   • First Shift / 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM / 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM / 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
  • Every 3rd weekend 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM

Duties: Inpatient Pharmacy Sterile Compounding Technician

Perform sterile compounding according to policy and regulations including USP 797 and USP 800. Maintain competency in use of all equipment and programs related to performing sterile compounding. Participate in medication management for pharmacy compounding, including medication and supply ordering, receiving, and maintenance. Troubleshoot equipment, hardware, and software issues relating to compounding. Participate in completing and documenting all cleaning and monitoring activities identified for areas related to sterile compounding. Practice critical and focused thinking and perform calculations as needed to validate activities. Work within a team to triage and respond to all compounding needs in a timely manner, following supervisor shift pharmacists' oversight. Maintain ongoing didactic and practical training as related to sterile compounding.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Registered as a pharmacy technician with the State of Nebraska Board of Pharmacy required.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification within 12 months of licensed date required.
  • Internal Aseptic Technique training completed within two weeks of hire required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Inpatient pharmacy department experience in sterile compounding preferred.
  • Hazardous medication and/or total parenteral nutrition (TPN) compounding experience preferred.
