Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks an experienced Pharmacist-In-Charge to provide operational and clinical leadership within the inpatient pharmacy. Working with the health care team, you will optimize drug therapy, develop and coordinate programs, and oversee quality initiatives to meet safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards.

The role requires a Doctor of Pharmacy, completion of a residency or equivalent experience, a South Carolina pharmacist license, and current BLS

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree required; completion of a pharmacy residency program or 2 years of work experience as a registered pharmacist.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational and clinical leadership within inpatient pharmacy and collaborate with the health care team to optimize drug therapy, programs, and quality initiatives while maintaining safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
• Serve as Pharmacist-In-Charge ensuring operations comply with laws governing pharmacy practice and supervision of staff.

Job Description

• In collaboration with the health care team, ensure that the Pharmacy provides the optimal drug therapy to patients as evidenced by proper drug selection, dose, route, duration of therapy, and cost effectiveness. Develop, implement, and coordinate pharmacy programs and enhance the quality of existing services in specialty area. Provide oversight and monitoring of clinical and operational pharmacy initiatives and services. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize the delivery of care, ensuring relevant safety, regulatory, certification and/or accreditation standard are maintained, and various required human resource functions.
• Serves as the Pharmacist-In-Charge and ensures the operation of the pharmacy is in conformance with all laws pertinent to the practice of pharmacy and the distribution of drugs and supervision of pharmacy personnel.

Additional Job Description

Education: Doctor of Pharmacy degree and completion of a pharmacy residency program or 2 years of work experience as a registered pharmacist. Licenses and certifications: SC Pharmacist License, Current BLS Certification (within 90 days of start date)
