Job summary

Paylocity is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) to promote comfort for inpatients, swing-bed, and hospice patients under the direction of the DON and Charge Nurse. The role focuses on basic, non-licensed bedside care and supportive nursing tasks within established policies and procedures.

The PCT will collaborate with registered nurses and respiratory therapy to provide appropriate care, ensure safety, and support discharge preparation.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School or equivalent; or Patient Care Tech Certification or one clinical nursing semester.
• Graduate of PCT, CNA, EMT, CMA, MOA, U.S. Military Medic program or enrolled in nursing school with one full clinical rotation; PCT certification preferred.
• Formal training on glucose testing provided in-house.
• BLS/CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic age-appropriate patient care under RN/LPN supervision and promote comfort.
• Assist with hygiene, vital signs, and measurement/documentation per unit policy.
• Collaborate with nursing/respiratory for appropriate respiratory care and oxygen administration as directed.
• Support patient safety: identify bands, monitor fall risk, use proper body mechanics, and reposition patients every 2 hours.
• Assist with meals, catheter care, infection control, and discharge readiness; prepare room for environmental services.
• Maintain tidy rooms, restock supplies, and respond to call lights promptly.
• Demonstrate teamwork and proactive communication during shift handoffs and daily plans.
