The University of Kansas Health System at Paola Campus seeks a Patient Care Tech/Certified Nurse Aide (inpatient) to assist nurses, perform unit secretary tasks, and provide patient care and clerical support. This role emphasizes clear communication, calmness under stress, and adherence to safety protocols within inpatient units.

Responsibilities include admissions/discharges prep, environmental cleaning, vital signs, specimen handling, and data entry.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED, or currently enrolled in a program.
• CNA license or completion of the Gold Standard Intern Program.
• Documentation of fundamentals of nursing courses.
• Minimum 18 months in a relevant patient care role.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare for admission, transfers and discharges; handle IV pumps, bed setup, and update white boards.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control practices.
• Record daily patient care tasks (vital signs, hygiene, nutrition, intake/output) and transport specimens.
• Answer call lights promptly and communicate patient needs to the nurse team.
• Enter orders and charges accurately into the computer system.
• Manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and support patient care under nurse direction.
• Contribute to the plan of care following patient safety goals and nurse instructions.
• Perform the clinical and technical competencies required by the unit.
