Job summary

Avenues Recovery is seeking Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants for our inpatient Detox and Residential facility in Norfolk, VA. You will develop medical care plans and monitor patients throughout treatment while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s degree in a medical field, VA state license (PMHNP/FNP/PA-C) and DEA certification, with 3–5 years of related clinical experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in medical field (e.g., PMHNP, FNP, PA-C).
• Active state medical license in Virginia (PMHNP, FNP, PA-C).
• Federal DEA certification required.
• 3–5 years of clinical experience preferred (SUD/psych/mental health).
• Strong observational and critical thinking abilities; excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Create individual medical care plans and provide monitoring/medication management.
• Stabilize patients to enable engagement in treatment.
• Update orders, review UDS and lab results, document interventions.
• Collaborate with medical, clinical and UR teams for seamless care.
• Maintain thorough documentation of medical interventions and directives.
• Schedule daily and weekly client appointments efficiently.

Seeking to hire a nurse practitioner and physician's assistants for our inpatient Detox and Residential treatment facility in Norfolk, VA.

What You'll Do:

• Create individual medical care treatment plans and provide medical monitoring/ medication management for each client throughout treatment
• Provide quality medical care to stabilize patients and enable them to fully engage in treatment
• Update pharmacy orders, create UDS, med and lab orders, and review and address UDS and lab results
• Collaborate with extended medical, clinical, and UR teams for seamless coordination of care
• Maintain thorough documentation of all medical interventions, consultations, and directives
• Complete daily and weekly client appointment schedule in timely and efficient manner

What We're Looking For:

• Master's degree in medical field, and related certifications
• Valid state medical license (PMHNP, FNP, PA-C)
• Federal DEA certification
• Acute observational and critical thinking skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong collaborative and multitasking skills
• Preferred: 3-5 years of experience in a related clinical setting (SUD, psych, mental health etc.)
