Job summary

UC San Diego Health seeks an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to deliver inpatient neurosurgical care across Jacobs Medical Center and Hillcrest Medical Center. The NP collaborates with attending surgeons, residents, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to develop plans and ensure high-quality care.

Responsibilities include evaluating patients in ICU/IMU/wards, performing procedures, coordinating care transitions, and supporting ambulatory services when needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
• California RN license, California NP license, and Furnishing License Certification.
• Current Acute Care NP Certification (AGACNP or ACNP).
• BLS and ACLS at hire; ART within six months.
• Minimum two years as NP with inpatient neurosurgical or surgical experience.
• Ability to perform initial history and physicals and formulate plans.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage neurosurgical patients across ICU, IMU, medical-surgical units, and ED/OR.
• Develop and implement treatment plans; order and interpret studies; document encounters.
• Coordinate transitions of care and discharge planning; cross-coverage as needed.
• Support ambulatory services as operational needs require.
