Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months pharmacy technician experience required.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by the Board of Pharmacy in the state of practice.
• Sterile Product Preparation Certification required; 5 years IV production experience accepted in lieu but certification within 90 days of hire.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical mathematics and sterile technique; ability to uphold chemotherapy safety guidelines.
• Strong communication and computer skills; proficient with Windows-style applications and pharmacy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assists pharmacists to maintain an efficient medication distribution system for patient care.
• Accurately prepares sterile admixture products (IVs, chemotherapy, syringes) using aseptic techniques.
• Performs mathematical calculations for sterile preparations.
• Operates and maintains specialized pharmacy equipment (IV safety software, barcode software).
• Schedules maintenance to ensure sterility and performs cleaning of the IV room.
• Adapts interactions to patient populations while maintaining privacy and professional communication.
• Performs other related duties as required.
