Job summary

RWJ Barnabas Health in Central New Jersey is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for inpatient infectious disease consultations and follow-up, 100% inpatient with no outpatient clinic duties. The role features a productivity-based pay model and a base salary range aligned to regional data.

Your responsibilities include daily rounds, careful CPT coding, collaboration with ID physicians and hospital teams, and active involvement in antibiotic stewardship and infection

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered New Jersey license as APN or PA.
• National certification in good standing (ANCC/AANP for NP; NCCPA for PA).
• DEA registration or eligibility/willingness to obtain.
• Experience in infectious disease, internal medicine, hospital medicine, or critical care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inpatient infectious disease follow-up visits at affiliated hospital(s).
• Round on an average panel of ~25 hospitalized patients per day.
• Collaborate with supervising physicians, hospitalists, and intensivists on diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Document and code visit levels (CPT 99232/99233; add-ons like G0545) for reimbursement.
• Assist with antibiotic stewardship and infection prevention activities with hospital.
