Job summary

Apalachee Center, Inc. is seeking a Nurse Supervisor to manage and coordinate unit training for inpatient staff in Tallahassee, FL, supporting the Nurse Manager and supervising MHAs, MTs, LPNs, and RNs to ensure smooth operation of inpatient units.

You will perform daily rounds, monitor care quality, and lead staff evaluations and corrective actions in alignment with Agency, State and Federal guidelines. Strong supervisory and communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in accordance with Florida Statute 464.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Supervisory or leadership experience in a psychiatric/behavioral health setting preferred.
• Professional clinical experience in psychiatric/community mental health setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates unit training for new staff and re-training of seasoned staff.
• Makes daily rounds on all units to observe staff and address training needs.
• Monitors Inpatient units to ensure that clients receive quality care as per Agency, State and Federal guidelines.
• Assists with completion of performance evaluations; follows through with disciplinary action.
• Identifies and follows up on needed corrective actions as assigned Supervisor or designee.
• Ensures MHA staff assignment sheets are completed for all shifts and follows up with unit nursing staff and/or Nurse Managers when needed.
• Communicates daily with unit nursing staff and Nurse Managers about staffing and unit management issues.
• Communicates changes in policies and procedures to staff as directed by Supervisor or designee.

Overview

Manage and coordinate unit training for newly hired and seasoned Inpatient staff. Assists Nurse Manager in supervision of Mental Health Assistants (MHAs), Mental Health Assistants – II (MHA-IIs), Milieu Therapists (MTs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Registered Nurses (RNs). Coordinate unit functioning with Inpatient Administration. Supervises emergency events as needed.

• Communicates daily with unit nursing staff and Nurse Managers about staffing and unit management issues.

QualificationsEducation/Experience:

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in accordance with Florida Statute 464 is required.


• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.


• Professional clinical experience in a psychiatric/community mental health setting preferred.


• Supervisory experience preferred.

Licensure or Certification:

• Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.


• Maintain authorization as an approved Center vehicle driver.


• Must maintain current CPR, CPI and First Aid certifications.
