Job summary

The State of North Carolina's Department of Health and Human Services seeks a Creative/Expressive Arts Therapist to provide art or music therapy to patients in an inpatient psychiatric setting. You will conduct group and individual therapies for adults, children, and adolescents, with supervision duties for students and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.
• Experience supervising student interns and other personnel in therapy methods.
• Credentials preferred: MT-BC, ATR-P/ATR/ATR-BC, R-DMT/BC-DMT or RDT/ATR–, NADTA RDT.

Responsibilities

• Provide art or music therapy (based on licensure) for adults, children and adolescents.
• Deliver both group and individual therapy.
• Supervise students/volunteers during group therapies.
• Coordinate with patient care units and treatment planning teams.
• Enroll patients in recommended groups and ensure clinical objectives are met.

Bachelor’s degree in music therapy (with internship)

Bachelor’s degree in music or music education with equivalency in music therapy (with internship)

Bachelor’s degree in creative/expressive arts with experience in therapy
