Job summary

Mosaic Life Care is seeking an Inpatient Coder II to assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for acute care inpatient services, including acute rehab, swing bed and LTACH. The coder reviews documentation and applies coding guidelines to ensure accurate reimbursement.

Responsibilities include education of providers, collaboration with departments, handling complex denials, mentoring coders, and completing special projects to support compliant, high-quality medical records.

Qualifications

• Must have coding education.
• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or Medical Records - Required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or Medical Records - Required.
• 3 Years experience in coding in an acute care setting - Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Codes complex diseases and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS per guidelines.
• Mentors and assists training coders.
• Completes complex coding assignments for reimbursement and compliance.
• Educates providers to ensure optimal documentation in the medical record.
• Coordinates with clinical departments and other teams to ensure timely coding.
• Responds to coding edits and completes denials reviews.
• Completes special coding projects.
• Other duties as assigned.
