ISHE is seeking an inpatient coder responsible for ensuring high-quality, complete coding to support accurate measurement and reporting of physician and hospital outcomes. The role requires CCS credential or eligible AHIMA credential and strong knowledge of documentation guidelines.
Candidate should have associate degree or CCS credential, with experience in EHR and encoder tools, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. RHIA/RHIT not required here, CCS is the standard credential.
Function in a fully accountable role with respect to ensuring the overall quality of inpatient coding with continuous quality improvement when indicated. The coder ensures that accurate and complete coding is performed so it can be used for measuring and reporting physician and hospital outcomes. The coder maintains an extensive up to date knowledge of clinical coding and has an extensive knowledge of the documentation requirements and guidelines in accordance with Coding Clinic and AHA Official Coding Guidelines as they pertain to diagnosis and procedural coding.
Associate degree.
In lieu of associate degree, Certified Coding Specialist credential with two years of inpatient coding experience. Would consider a new AHIMA credential eligible graduate.
Microsoft Office experience, EHR and Encoder experience preferred.
RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification required.
