Qualifications

Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution (education verified).
License to practice pharmacy in the state of practice and dispense controlled substances
Current knowledge of state and federal regulations and statutes regarding the practice of pharmacy in the state of practice.
Immunization certification if applicable to practice site needs

Responsibilities

Reviews patients' medication orders for allergy interactions, duplication of therapy, appropriateness of drug therapy, and drug interactions; makes interventions to optimize medication use.
Oversees medications prepared and delivered timely to care areas, stored securely and appropriately.
Provides counseling to patients and promotes quality medication education and adherence.
Ensures regulatory training and documentation are complete; complies with state and federal laws and pharmacy policies.
Supervises interns, technicians, and support staff; provides clinical consultation to health professionals.
Identifies and addresses problems related to equipment, maintenance, drug availability, staffing, and patient care concerns.
Suggests process improvements to enhance patient satisfaction and safety; participates in departmental meetings.
Supports clinical, regulatory, and operational directives within the system.
