Chicago Cardiology Institute is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its inpatient general cardiology team serving Schaumburg and Oak Park, IL. You’ll collaborate with experienced cardiologists in a supportive hospital environment, with a Monday–Friday schedule, occasional weekends, and no call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Illinois NP or PA license, or eligibility
• Cardiology or inpatient experience preferred
• New graduates with cardiac background encouraged

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage hospitalized patients with cardiovascular conditions in collaboration with the cardiology team
• Participate in hospital rounds, new consultations, and follow-up assessments
• Support care of patients with heart failure, CAD, chest pain, arrhythmias, and other conditions
• Review diagnostic studies and lab results to guide treatment decisions
• Coordinate care with physicians, APPs, nurses and hospital team
• Provide patient education and discharge planning assistance

Chicago Cardiology Institute is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its growing inpatient general cardiology team serving patients throughout the Schaumburg and Oak Park communities.

This opportunity is well suited for an experienced cardiovascular APP or a new graduate with a strong cardiac background and an interest in inpatient cardiology. The position provides training and support to develop expertise in evaluating and managing hospitalized patients with a broad range of cardiovascular conditions.

You’ll collaborate with experienced cardiologists and cardiovascular professionals while building your clinical knowledge in a supportive hospital environment. The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with occasional weekends and no call responsibilities.

What You’ll Do

• Evaluate and manage hospitalized patients with cardiovascular conditions in collaboration with the cardiology team

• Participate in hospital rounds, new consultations, and follow‑up assessments

• Support the care of patients with heart failure, coronary artery disease, chest pain, arrhythmias, and other cardiovascular conditions

• Review diagnostic studies, laboratory results, and clinical information to help guide treatment decisions

• Monitor patients’ clinical progress and response to treatment

• Coordinate care with physicians, APPs, nurses, and other members of the hospital team

• Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and follow‑up care

• Assist with discharge planning and transitions to outpatient cardiology care

• Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Expand your cardiology knowledge through hands‑on experience and physician collaboration

Who We’re Looking For

• Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

• Active, unrestricted Illinois NP or PA license, or eligibility to obtain one before starting

• Previous cardiology or inpatient experience as an APP or Registered Nurse is preferred

• New graduates with experience in cardiac care, CVICU, ICU, telemetry, or another cardiovascular setting are encouraged to apply

• Strong interest in developing a long‑term career in inpatient cardiology
