Qualifications

• Requires valid South Carolina teaching certificate or eligibility in the appropriate certified area.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets the needs, interests and abilities of students.
• May teach multiple disciplines as assigned.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Plans and prepares lesson plans and related activities for individual students or assigned classes.
• Guides the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals; communicates objectives to students.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable for students' needs.
• Grades work; maintains records of test scores/grades.
• Assesses student progress and provides reports as required.
• Maintains records as required by law and district policy.
• Maintains positive relationships with parents; conducts conferences; parent education workshops.
• Coordinates and/or participates in special programs and events; serves as adviser to student organizations.
• Attends staff meetings and participates in staff committees.
• Performs related duties as required.
• Arranges substitute instructors as needed.
