Job summary

Timmons Group in Richmond, VA is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III to join our Roadway Design Transportation Group. You will help design roadway widenings, develop 3D models, and prepare plan sheets for transportation projects.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering and 2+ years in transportation civil engineering. Proficiency with Civil 3D or OpenRoads is preferred, and EIT is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 2+ years of transportation civil engineering experience.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D or OpenRoads preferred; familiarity with VDOT standards.

Responsibilities

• Design horizontal alignments and vertical profiles for roadway widening and improvements.
• Develop 3D models and plans using Civil 3D or OpenRoads Designer.
• Create visualizations for client and public presentations.
• Prepare detailed plan sheets and submission packages.
• Perform roadway and drainage calculations using engineering software.
• Assist in engineering and construction cost estimates.
• Research open-source GIS data for planning.
• Conduct field observations and support design discussions.
• Collaborate in meetings with clients and contractors.
