Job summary

Vybond Group, Inc. in Franklin, KY seeks a Product Development Engineer to manage new tape products from concept to release. You will design experiments, run trials on pilot and production lines using solvent, emulsion, hot melt, and rubber-based adhesives, and interpret data for customer-driven innovations.

The role requires a BS in a chemical-related field and 3+ years in tape design/manufacturing with experience in ASTM/PSTC testing and cross-functional teamwork.

Qualifications

• BS degree in chemical engineering, polymer science, chemistry or related field required.
• Three plus years in PS adhesive tape design, manufacturing or release liner.
• Basic understanding of process control equipment and relationship between processing and product performance.
• FTIR, DSC, peel adhesion, tack and shear testing, and related analytical techniques.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with continuous innovation and PMP a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follow Design Control procedures for new products and variances.
• Design experiments, run trials, analyze data, and test applications for new products.
• Operate pilot and production lines with various adhesives and coatings.
• Lead product development projects aligned with corporate goals and timelines.
• Source new materials, assess costs, and drive material optimization.
• Identify processing or equipment issues and lead cross-functional problem resolution.
• Prepare finished tape samples and document test methods and data.
• Create technical documentation: material specs, product specs, stability data.
• Apply ASTM PSTC standards to testing when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Product Development Manager.
