Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory seeks an inaugural Associate Laboratory Director for its Innovation, Science, and Security Directorate to lead a broad portfolio of fundamental and applied programs, national security initiatives, and user facilities. Reporting to the Laboratory Director, you will shape science and technology direction and drive operational excellence.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant science or technology field with fifteen plus years of related experience, including at least ten years in management.
• Proven ability to develop and execute scientific strategy with engagement from key stakeholders.
• Commitment to excellence in science and operations, with strong leadership capability.
• Exceptional communication and relationship-management skills with sponsors, clients, partners and staff.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the ISS Directorate and steward its user facilities.
• Oversee relationships with DOE program sponsors and other agencies.
• Strengthen and expand research programs; drive strategic initiatives.
• Develop partnerships with other national labs, academia, and private sector.
• Manage programmatic funds, facilities, capital, and equipment.
• Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with policies.
• Represent the ISS Directorate on Lab committees and task forces.
• Support staffing, recruitment, and succession planning.
