Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking an Innovation Engineer to define the next generation of tools and solutions. You will build prototypes, analyze concepts, and translate user feedback into tangible product innovations on a fast-paced Front-End Innovation team.

You will collaborate across engineering, design and marketing, apply structured ideation, and travel 10–20% domestically and internationally to gather insights and validate concepts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in product development, innovation, or concept engineering.
• Experience on front-end innovation teams preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and iterate prototypes using 3D modeling, simulation and rapid prototyping tools.
• Generate and refine concepts in ambiguous problem spaces with structured ideation and engineering judgment.
• Translate field research into user feedback, observations and actionable insights.
• Perform engineering analyses to evaluate feasibility, performance, risk and design tradeoffs.
• Collaborate with product marketing, design research, industrial design, NPD/ADV engineering and project leadership.

As an Innovation Engineer on the Front-End Innovation team, you will identify real user problems and translate them into breakthrough product concepts that define our future portfolio. You will define our next generation of tools and solutions by:

• Building and iterating prototypes, leveraging 3D modeling, simulation, and rapid prototyping tools
• Generating and refining concepts in ambiguous problem spaces using structured ideation and good engineering judgment
• Participating in and translating field research into user feedback, observations, and actionable insights
• Performing engineering analysis to evaluate feasibility, performance, risk, and design tradeoffs
• Driving collaboration with product marketing, design research, industrial design, NPD/ADV engineering, and project leadership to push the boundaries of innovation
• Communicating clearly to stakeholders, including design intent, tradeoffs, progress, and recommendations
• Defining and evaluating critical user benefits, business fit, and technical feasibility

What TOOLS You Bring

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Mechatronics, or related field 1-2 years of experience in product development, innovation, or concept engineering, with demonstrated ability to deliver innovative solutions. Experience on front end innovation teams preferred.

• Evolving foundation in engineering fundamentals (mechanics, materials, analysis, tolerancing, statics, dynamics, and manufacturing processes)
• Experience creating and using prototypes, models, or other tools to drive learning and decision-making
• Experience with CAD, Analysis Tools, 3D Printing, rapid prototyping methods, and office suite
• Ability to leverage strategy-level critical thinking skills with a growing understanding of supporting disciplines to ensure the right ideas move forward
• A curious, hands-on attitude driven by extreme ownership and bias toward action
• Ability to operate with speed, agility, and urgency in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
• High interest in tools of trade and improving how they are employed
• Ability to travel 10-20% of the time (domestic and international)
