Amazon’s World Wide Design Engineering transportation team is seeking an Innovation and Design Engineer to help design and optimize large-scale logistics facilities. You will work with world-class engineers on high-performance systems, with ownership and fast-paced problem solving in a global environment.

The role emphasizes technical leadership across project lifecycles, collaboration with vendors, and delivering innovative solutions for transportation networks and distribution centers

Qualifications

As an Innovation and Design Engineer for the Transportation team, you will be able to work with some of the most talented engineers in the design and development of physical distribution centers around the globe. Additionally, a successful candidate will also have a strong technical problem solving ability, excellent project management skills, and a knack for thinking creatively. Key job responsibilities

• Responsible for various facility designs from the time projects are selected to the successful launch for the Operations team to start delivering customer packages.
• Invent, design, and implement engineering solutions to complex material flow and human/machine efficiency problems throughout the global Amazon supply chain.
• Lead and coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the transportation network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high quality, cost effective solutions in very short periods of time.
• Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.
• Provide technical leadership for large-scale engineering projects.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience in management of engineering design projects
• 3+ years of Design/Innovation, research & development, manufacturing, process, industrial engineering, or related experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any domain) or foreign equivalent, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering (any domain) or foreign equivalent, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field
• Knowledge of concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and decision making
• Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturing
• Experience with design-in-safety
• Experience with process design based on Lean Principles

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
