Job summary

Kirkland & Ellis is seeking a Platform Developer to transform cutting-edge AI and data technologies into real-world solutions for professionals. You’ll build AI-powered workflows, design data models, and create production-grade apps using Foundry, AIP, and the OS developer tools with TypeScript and React.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: 3+ years in software, data, or analytics engineering, including data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and large-scale integrations.
  • Palantir expertise: Hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry and/or AIP, including pipelines and ontology modeling.
  • AI/ML: Production-ready generative AI and LLM-powered solution development, including prompt engineering and model evaluation.
  • Technical proficiency: Strong Python, PySpark, SQL, TypeScript, React; cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Engineering excellence: Testing, observability, CI/CD, performance optimization, and documentation.
  • Ownership mindset: Self-directed, lifecycle ownership of products.
  • Preferred strengths: Palantir certifications, AIP Agent Studio, RAG, MLOps/LLMOps, enterprise integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Build AI-powered solutions and workflows leveraging LLMs for drafting, extraction, and analysis.
  • Design and maintain data models and production-grade pipelines (Python, PySpark, SQL).
  • Develop business apps using Workshop and OSDK with TypeScript and React.
  • Integrate Foundry with iManage, Intapp, Salesforce, matter management, and external data sources.
  • Scale prototypes to production with CI/CD, monitoring, and performance tuning.

What You’ll Do

Are you passionate about turning cutting-edge AI and data technologies into real-world solutions that transform how professionals work?

  • Build AI-powered solutions: Develop and support Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) workflows that leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) for drafting, extraction, analysis, and other high-impact business processes.
  • Design data models and pipelines: Create and maintain Foundry Ontology objects, actions, functions, and production-grade data pipelines using Python, PySpark, and Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Develop business applications: Build operational applications in Workshop and create custom user experiences using the Ontology Software Development Kit (OSDK) with TypeScript and React.
  • Integrate enterprise systems: Connect Foundry solutions with key business platforms including iManage, Intapp, Salesforce, matter management systems, and external data sources.
  • Scale solutions into production: Strengthen prototypes through testing, monitoring, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), performance optimization, and documentation.
  • Drive secure innovation: Implement data governance, auditability, access controls, and confidentiality safeguards to support sensitive business environments.
  • Own products end-to-end: Take responsibility for workflow lifecycle management as solutions transition from implementation to long-term operational ownership.
What You’ll Bring
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: 3+ years of software, data, or analytics engineering experience, including data modeling, Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) or Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) pipelines, and large-scale integrations.
  • Palantir expertise: Hands-on experience building and deploying solutions on Palantir Foundry and/or AIP, including pipelines, ontology modeling, and application development in production environments.
  • AI and machine learning capabilities: Experience developing production-ready generative AI and LLM-powered solutions, including prompt engineering, model deployment, evaluation frameworks, and guardrails.
  • Technical proficiency: Strong programming skills in Python, PySpark, SQL, TypeScript, and React, along with experience working in cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Engineering excellence: Proven ability to deliver reliable, scalable solutions through testing, observability, CI/CD, performance optimization, and technical documentation.
  • Ownership mindset: A self-directed approach with the ability to drive decisions, solve complex problems, and manage products through their full lifecycle.
  • Preferred strengths: Experience with Palantir certifications, AIP Agent Studio, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic workflows, MLOps or LLMOps practices, enterprise integrations, and secure handling of sensitive data. Familiarity with legal or professional services technology is a plus.

Compensation

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in each of the below locations. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary. Compensation Range:

  • Chicago: $176,000 - $220,000
  • New York: $176,000 - $242,000
