Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Placement & Transition Specialist for the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution Education department. You will conduct counseling, oversee GED testing, and maintain student records to support inmate education and transition planning.

The role requires a master’s degree and Florida Educator’s Certificate, with a temporary certificate allowed within 12 months of hire. On-site position serving the Milton area with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of teaching experience is required.
• A master's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Possess or be eligible to apply for a State of Florida Educator's Certificate.
• Non-certified applicants must obtain a temporary State of Florida Educator’s Certificate within 12 months of hire; Professional Certificate must be obtained prior to expiration of Temporary Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Lead education orientation programs for new arrivals and oversee GED testing.
• Maintain up-to-date educational records and progress reports.
• Collaborate on personalized education and transition plans for inmate success.
• Conduct interviews and counseling sessions addressing educational, transitional, and personal needs.
