Job summary

Amcor is seeking a skilled Machinist to join the Tool Room for maintaining, repairing, and testing molds and related equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

The role requires hands-on machining experience with lathes, mills and grinders, plus strong mechanical aptitude and teamwork. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 pounds and possess appropriate safety certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Machinist apprenticeship or hands‑on experience accepted.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience with machining equipment (lathes, mills, grinders).
• Knowledge of injection mold components and systems.
• Proficiency with measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Good mathematical, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Positive attitude and teamwork.
• Must provide own hand tools.
• Comfortable around grease, oil and solvents.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Forklift and crane certification (or ability to obtain).
• Stand, walk, bend, stoop, and squat for extended periods.
• Ability to distinguish colors.

Responsibilities

• Operate molding presses and assist in opening/closing molds for repair and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot basic molding process issues related to molds.
• Assist in setting, pulling, cleaning, and inspecting molds.
• Perform mold testing (water, air, and electrical) before release from the Tool Room.
• Wire and check all mold heaters.
• Monitor mold efficiencies and support continuous improvement efforts.
• Maintain Mold Maintenance Files with work details and dates.
• Use proper procedures for mold cleaning, inspection, and maintenance tracking.
• Apply green-tag status to production-ready molds.
• Assist with training of new team members.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Molding, Printing, Thermoforming and others as needed.
• Perform routine safety and equipment inspections.
• Notify supervisors of damaged molds or needed repairs.
• Maintain a clean and organized Tool Room.
• Shut down equipment to prevent harm to personnel or property.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by Tooling leadership.

Job Description Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machinist to join our Tool Room team. This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting molds and related equipment to support efficient production operations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with machining equipment, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
