About Atomic Industries

Atomic Industries is building a mass production company for the 21st century, reinventing the engine of part production by teaching AI how to design and build injection molds. We combine advanced simulation, autonomous design, and vertically integrated manufacturing to accelerate the pace of the physical economy. By collapsing the time and cost to produce high-quality parts, we are transforming how goods are made at scale and laying the foundation to reindustrialize America.

The Opportunity

As Plant Manager, you will take full ownership of the Detroit facility’s P&L, people, processes, and performance. You will lead the site from initial pilot runs to 24/7 production, using advanced automation, robotics, and real-time AI analytics to achieve world-class OEE, scrap, and cycle-time performance.

Key Responsibilities

Launch & Scale

  • Lead site ramp-up, including equipment installation, cell layout, utilities, and regulatory readiness
  • Build and manage a high-performance team across operations, maintenance, quality, and logistics

Operational Excellence

  • Deliver hourly and daily production targets across OEE, yield, uptime, and cost per shot
  • Build a lean, high-efficiency culture using tools like 5S, SMED, and Six Sigma
  • Partner with software teams to deploy predictive quality models and autonomous process control

Quality & Compliance

  • Achieve and maintain IATF-16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific quality standards
  • Own PPAP, FMEA, audit preparation, and continuous corrective-action processes

Safety, Culture & Leadership

  • Create a zero-incident safety culture; ensure OSHA and MIOSHA compliance
  • Develop future leaders through coaching, transparency, and metrics-driven management

Financial & Strategic

  • Own site-level budget, cost reduction, and headcount planning
  • Inform capital strategy, including next-generation presses, automation, and metrology

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years in high-volume injection molding, including 5+ years leading a full plant or major business unit
  • Proven track record launching or scaling greenfield operations or major expansions
  • Expertise in scientific molding, decoupled processes (RJG), and cavity-pressure control
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results in OEE, scrap reduction, and cost using data and lean methods
  • Familiarity with MES, IoT-enabled operations, and statistical process control
  • Strong financial ownership, including P&L, cost modeling, and capex planning
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degrees a plus

Preferred Extras

  • Experience with fully automated workcells (robots, vision, in-mold labeling, insert molding)
  • Background in automotive, medical, or other highly regulated sectors
  • Experience with Industry 4.0 tech like digital twins or adaptive process control
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or similar certification

Why Join Atomic

  • Own the Build — Play a foundational role in shaping a next-generation production facility and team
  • Work on the Frontier — Collaborate directly with AI and software teams pushing the limits of autonomous manufacturing
  • Get Real Equity — Early leadership equity in a fast-scaling, venture-backed company
  • Do Meaningful Work — Help rebuild American industry with a culture of speed, accountability, and results

Benefits:

  • 100% coverage of platinum medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees
  • Relocation bonus
  • 401(k)
  • Flexible vacation policy
