Job summary

Caliberr Staffing seeks a Machine Operator to oversee automated molding and trimming processes in a high‑tech automotive interior production environment. You will ensure machines run smoothly, maintain quality, and support continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee plastic injection molding and automated soft-trim machinery to ensure output meets technical requirements.
• Perform start-up and shutdown sequences and minor process adjustments to maintain production flow.
• Extract finished components and perform trimming or finishing as needed.
• Use calipers, gauges, and templates to conduct visual and dimensional quality checks.
• Maintain accurate records of production volumes and quality results.
• Adhere to safety protocols, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures to maintain a safe workplace.
• Keep work area tidy and organized using 5S methods.
• Assist maintenance with routine cleaning and clearing minor jams.
• Report quality concerns or equipment malfunctions to leadership promptly.
• Collaborate with Plant Manager, Supervisors, QA and Maintenance to reach output targets.
• Maintain reliable attendance and be available for scheduled overtime.
• Support various general tasks to improve overall production efficiency.

Role Summary

Operational Setting

The facility utilizes a variety of molding presses, robotic systems, automated handling tools, and precision inspection equipment. All production processes are strictly governed by established automotive quality protocols, specifically IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee plastic injection molding and automated soft-trim machinery to ensure output meets all technical requirements.
• Execute machine power-up and power-down sequences, along with necessary minor adjustments to keep production flowing.
• Extract completed components and carry out necessary trimming or secondary finishing tasks.
• Utilize precision tools like gauges, calipers, and templates to perform visual and dimensional quality checks.
• Maintain precise records of production volumes and the outcomes of quality inspections.
• Help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team by strictly adhering to all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Keep your designated work area tidy and structured by applying 5S methodology.
• Support the maintenance team by performing routine equipment cleaning, clearing minor jams, and providing assistance as needed.
• Ensure that any quality concerns or mechanical malfunctions are communicated to leadership immediately.
• Foster a productive team environment by working closely with the Plant Manager, Supervisors, and the Quality and Maintenance departments to achieve output targets.
• Ensure reliable attendance and punctuality, including availability for scheduled overtime shifts.
• Assist with various general tasks to support overall production efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills

Required

• Completion of high school or an equivalent educational program.
• Previous work history within a high-speed industrial manufacturing environment.
• Capacity to comprehend and execute both written and spoken directives.
• Proficiency in utilizing measurement instruments, including calipers and various gauges.
• Demonstrate a high level of precision and attention to detail in your work.
• Show initiative and a dedication to achieving excellence and ongoing process improvement.

Preferred

• Two to three years of background in automotive manufacturing, injection molding, or a comparable industrial setting.
• Experience working with robotic systems and automated production machinery.
• Familiarity with the requirements of ISO and IATF quality management systems.
• Understanding of plastic materials, molding settings, and basic troubleshooting, including the ability to interpret work instructions.
• Possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose basic equipment issues.
• Experience handling soft trim components and performing fine finishing work.
• A desire to grow professionally within the organization by acquiring new skills and pursuing advancement.
• Certification or experience in operating a forklift.
• Exposure to automotive industry quality standards such as PPAP, APQP, or ISO/TS.

Physical Demands

You must be capable of continuous standing, walking, bending, and reaching, as well as performing repetitive motions with manual dexterity. The role requires the ability to lift weights of up to 50 pounds. Be aware that the work environment may involve exposure to moving machinery, elevated temperatures, and moderate noise levels.
