Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Research Scientist to perform Inhalation Toxicology Research in support of biomedical research at the Environmental Health Effects Laboratory (EHEL) in the Naval Medical Research Unit Dayton, OH. The role includes study design, animal use, data analysis, and preparation of proposals, reports, and publications.

The candidate will lead diverse teams, coordinate technical reviews, and present findings at conferences. A Ph.D.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Toxicology or a related scientific field with specialized study in inhalation, pulmonary and/or respiratory toxicology.
Extensive experience proposing and conducting original research, including design and implementation of protocols with animal models, data collection and analysis, and report production.
Extensive experience in toxicology studies utilizing small animals, with a specialty in inhalation research.
Strong background in toxicology research methodology with experience in research methods, design, and statistical analysis in a research setting.

Responsibilities

Design and conduct scientific research on inhalation toxicological effects of exposure to chemicals/mixtures across environmental conditions.
Utilize animal models to evaluate health and performance effects from exposures.
Provide scientific expertise in inhalation toxicology across organ systems, including pulmonary and neurological effects.
Prepare mission-relevant proposals, protocols, and technical reports.
Independently manage and coordinate research activities to meet deadlines.
Perform statistical analyses using SigmaPlot, SPSS, SAS; create spreadsheets and run analyses.
