Job summary

HeyTutor in Los Angeles is hiring English and Math tutors to support K-12 students during school hours, with sessions 8:00am–3:00pm. You will supervise small groups, track progress in the HeyTutor Dashboard, and help students catch up on learning gaps.

Candidates should have completed an AA or be enrolled in college, have tutoring experience with kids, and be comfortable in a classroom setting. A background check is required and compensation is based on education and experience.

JOB INFORMATION

HeyTutor has partnered with a school district in Los Angeles and we are hiring English & Math tutors to assist Elementary, Middle and High School students during school hours. You will work with students from K to 12th grade. You will actively supervise students while helping them catch up on learning gaps from the past school year. You must be comfortable passing an in-person background check. This is an opportunity for those passionate about a career in education, seeking consistent tutoring hours, or aiming to support students in your community.

JOB DUTIES

• Working with groups of students (without the support of a teacher or school site staff)
• Prepare area to start tutoring session
• May be responsible for picking up and dropping off students from designated areas in the school site
• Take attendance and run lessons through the HeyTutor Dashboard (if applicable)
• Document student progress with HeyTutor Dashboard
• When requested by manager, facilitate students taking and completing baseline and summative assessments
• Lead a group of students in the tutoring session, using curriculum and materials provided by the program
• Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for students
• Support students in making positive behavior choices
• Engage and interact with tutoring lessons alongside the students
• Daily clocking in and out of Deputy for shifts
• Any other duties that may be required by the Company, your manager and/or the School Site

SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday. 6 hours per day (30 hours per week) with potential to add an additional 7.5 hours/week. Tutors are needed during school hours (8:00am – 3:00pm).

REQUIREMENTS

• Must have completed an AA or higher, or be currently enrolled in college
• Tutoring experience (great at working with kids)
• Must be comfortable tutoring K-12 Math & ELA
• Comfortable working in a classroom setting
• Clear FBI-DOJ background check (provided through us)

PAY

Pay depends on a combination of education and experience and will be determined at the time of the interview.
