Job summary

UPMC Chartwell in Oakdale, PA is seeking a Casual Pharmacy Technician, Intermediate to join the Infusion Pharmacy team. The position offers a flexible schedule with day and evening shifts and occasional night shifts.

Responsibilities include filling medication orders with correct labeling, preparing oral and injectable medications including IV admixtures and TPN, and handling sterile products including cytotoxic and hazardous drugs with proper aseptic technique.

Qualifications

• Filling medication orders with accurate labeling and counting.
• Prepare oral and injectable medications, including IV admixtures and TPN.
• Work in sterile product area preparing cytotoxic and hazardous drugs using aseptic technique.
• Distribute medications including cassettes, emergency carts, and controlled substances per policy.

Responsibilities

• Filling: Assist in filling medication orders through correct labeling, counting and stocking practices. Initial and date products as required.
• Filling: Assist in the preparation of oral and injectable medications (including intravenous admixtures and TPN) for the correct patient for administration at the appropriate time. Use proper technique in the preparation of medications.
• Filling: Consistently has the ability to work in the Sterile Product area preparing cytotoxic and hazardous drugs (e.g. chemotherapy) using proper aseptic technique.
• Distribution: Participate in the distribution of medication including medication cassettes, emergency medication carts and the delivery of controlled substances per department policy and state and federal requirements.
