Job summary

Infusion Solutions Inc. seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive infusion therapy across neonate to geriatric patients in a clinical setting.

You will place, monitor, and adjust IV systems and medications, following physicians' orders and all accreditation, state, and federal requirements. Responsibilities include initial and ongoing assessments, administration of IV therapies, adherence to medication rights, documentation, and collaboration with physicians and pharmacists

Qualifications

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • One (1) year acute care experience within the last two (2) years or equivalent.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Current TB testing.
  • Valid state driver’s license and reliable automobile.
  • Proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability relate well to staff and other professionals.
  • Follows Washington state Nurse Practice Act and abides by In-home service laws.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for placing, monitoring, and assessing intravenous systems, medications, and/or products. Utilizing physicians’ orders and professional skills, the Infusion Therapy Services RN develops and implements a plan that meets each client’s specific needs and is in compliance with accreditation standards, federal and state regulations, reimbursement guidelines as well as Agency policies and procedures.

Utilizing physicians’ orders and professional skills, the Infusion Therapy Services RN develops and implements a plan that meets each client’s specific needs and is in compliance with accreditation standards, federal and state regulations, reimbursement guidelines as well as Agency policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions
  • Performs initial assessment and ongoing reassessments for each client.
  • Monitors and maintains infusion sites and systems.
  • Administers and monitors antineoplastic agents, parenteral nutrition, investigational medications, IV antibiotics, immunoglobulin, pain management, and other IV medications.
  • Follows the five (5) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
  • Performs venous punctures and phlebotomies.
  • Assesses the client’s condition, initiates a plan of care, re-evaluates and updates as necessary.
  • Observes and assesses clients for adverse reactions and/or complications to parenteral therapy, antineoplastic agents, medications, and blood components.
  • Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the client and family regarding pain management.
  • Performs all aspects of client care in an environment that optimizes client safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Obtains all necessary physician orders and collaborates with physician/pharmacist as client’s needs dictate.
  • Re-evaluates the need for continued care on an ongoing basis; initiates recertification as necessary. Documentation is clear, comprehensive, and timely.
  • Provides nursing care and infusion therapy care to all ages of clients from neonate to the geriatric client.
  • Labels cannula, dressing, solution, medication with pertinent information according to established protocols.
  • Provides education to clients and/or caregiver on treatment and ongoing care.
  • Maintains aseptic practices and infection control procedures.
  • Initiates case conferences to discuss multidisciplinary team responsibilities, client progress, plans for continued care, new problems, etc.
  • Obtains needed supplies and equipment to provide care.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of infusion equipment.
  • Maintains infusion therapy equipment.
  • Participates in agency’s other mandated activities, including in-services, UR/PI committee meetings and staff meetings.
  • Adheres to all agency, payroll, billing and documentation policies and procedures.
  • Meets established guidelines for documentation.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • May provide guidance, mentorship, and support to licensed practical nurses (LPNs), nursing assistants, or other clinical staff.
  • Assists in coordinating daily patient care activities and ensures adherence to care plans.
  • Participates in performance feedback and training of junior staff as needed.
  • Reports to the Nursing Manager or Clinical Supervisor; does not typically have full managerial authority.
Qualifications
Required Education, Licensure & Experience

All requirements below are job-related and consistent with business necessity.

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience as an RN commensurate with one (1) of the following:
  • One (1) year acute care experience within the last two (2) years
  • One (1) year home healthcare experience within the last two (2) years
  • One (1) year community health or public health experience within the last two (2) years
  • One (1) year outpatient facility experience within the last two (2) years
  • Credentials in specialty area, i.e., phlebotomy, IV, ET
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Current TB testing.
  • Valid state driver’s license and reliable automobile.
  • Proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability relate well to staff and other professionals.
  • Follows Washington state Nurse Practice Act and abides by In-home service laws
  • Must have effective communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice.

Preferred Education & Experience

Preferred qualifications are not required but are job-related and consistent with business necessity.

  • Current certification as CRNI preferred.
  • Additional languages preferred.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a clinical infusion setting with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. The environment may include fumes or airborne particles, and staff must follow safety protocols to ensure patient and personal safety.
