Job summary

Burris Logistics, Inc. seeks a Senior Engineer, Infrastructure to lead and support our on-premises and cloud infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, security, and backup solutions. You will drive uptime, reliability, and modernization across data centers and hosted environments.

Collaborate with Technology Services leadership to design, implement, and document best practices, ensuring compliance and seamless operations for the business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise technologies across servers, storage, networks, and security.
• Strong documentation skills and ability to produce clear, actionable procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead infrastructure initiatives including new installations, upgrades, and ongoing support for servers, storage, firewalls, email systems, telecoms, backup, data centers, and disaster recovery.
• Evaluate, implement, and support new technologies while maintaining existing infrastructure for reliable service delivery.
• Architect, administer, and maintain on-premises, hosted, and cloud-based infrastructure in line with standards.
• Collaborate with IT teams to resolve operational issues and fulfill service requests.
• Design and maintain monitoring and reporting to track performance, capacity, and availability.
• Conduct testing, validate changes, and provide QA for new and existing solutions.
• Develop and maintain backup, patching, security, data retention, and data center operation processes.
• Establish infrastructure standards, governance, and security practices for excellence and compliance.
• Provide technical leadership and documentation, support special projects, and drive improvements.

Job description

The Senior Engineer, Infrastructure position is core to the implementation and support of all infrastructure including servers, storage, email, telecom, backup, and data centers both on premise and external, network, servers both physical and virtual, storage, firewalls, email, security, mobile devices, back-ups, business continuity / disaster recovery, operations automation, and documentation. The Senior Engineer, Infrastructure will work with Technology Services senior staff and leadership in the identification of technology needs, design of solutions, vendor management, the project life cycle for the installation of new and upgrading of existing technology, development of better practices around security, policy and procedures, quality assurance, monitoring, metrics, and documentation.

This position will work closely with the entire Technology team and serve as the lead for the infrastructure group on Technology and company technology projects Working in a team, you will work to ensure our business operations continue to run by working to ensure system uptime is maintained and new projects are implemented.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead infrastructure initiatives including new installations, upgrades, and ongoing support for servers, storage, firewalls, email systems, telecommunications, backup solutions, data centers, mobile devices, and business continuity/disaster recovery programs.
• Evaluate, implement, and support new and emerging technologies while maintaining and optimizing existing infrastructure to ensure reliable service delivery across all enterprise platforms.
• Architect, administer, document, and maintain on-premises, hosted, and cloud-based infrastructure environments in alignment with established technology standards.
• Collaborate with IT support teams and leadership to resolve operational issues, fulfill service requests, and support incident resolution activities.
• Design, implement, and maintain monitoring and reporting solutions to ensure visibility into infrastructure performance, capacity, availability, and network utilization.
• Conduct system testing, validate infrastructure changes, and provide quality assurance for newly deployed and existing technology solutions.
• Develop and maintain processes, procedures, and documentation related to backups, patch management, security updates, mobile device management, data retention, and data center operations.
• Establish and maintain infrastructure standards, policies, governance processes, performance metrics, and security practices to ensure operational excellence and compliance.
• Provide technical leadership, create and maintain system documentation, support special projects, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise technologies including Fortinet, VMware, Barracuda, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Cisco networking, VoIP systems, Veeam, Windows Server, Linux, data centers, and infrastructure monitoring solutions.
• Strong systems administration, infrastructure engineering, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills; industry certifications are a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to learn, implement, and support new technologies while maintaining existing enterprise applications and infrastructure.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contribute to cross-functional initiatives, and support continuous learning and professional development.
