Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Infrastructure Lead to join our Global Infrastructure team to own and advance FuelCell Energy’s global IT infrastructure. Reporting to the CIO, this role leads the infrastructure team and translates business needs into a practical, modern infrastructure roadmap across on-premises, cloud, manufacturing, and operational (OT) environments. This is a hybrid position based in Danbury, CT, with regular onsite presence to facilitate collaboration with cross-functional teams, support operational systems, and help ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our infrastructure.

The Infrastructure Lead combines hands‑on technical depth, project leadership, and forward‑looking architecture to improve reliability, scalability, performance, resilience, and operational efficiency across corporate offices, manufacturing facilities, cloud environments (Azure), and OT systems. The role partners closely with Cybersecurity to ensure infrastructure solutions meet established security, risk, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the infrastructure team, establish priorities, assign work, remove obstacles, coach team members, and build the technical capability needed to support current operations and future growth.
  • Create and maintain a multi‑year infrastructure strategy and roadmap aligned with business priorities, site requirements, lifecycle risk, and the company’s modernization goals.
  • Lead the design, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of hybrid infrastructure spanning on‑premises systems and modern cloud services (Azure).
  • Own infrastructure architecture and lifecycle planning for servers, virtualization, storage, backup and recovery, cloud platforms, networking, switches, wireless, firewalls, identity‑related infrastructure dependencies, and core infrastructure services.
  • Lead complex infrastructure projects from discovery and requirements through architecture, business case, planning, implementation, transition to operations, and benefits realization.
  • Drive modernization by reducing technical debt, standardizing platforms, increasing automation, improving observability, and adopting cloud services where they provide clear business and operational value.
  • Ensure infrastructure services are resilient, monitored, documented, supportable, and recoverable, with clear ownership, service expectations, capacity planning, and lifecycle standards.
  • Lead incident response and problem management for major infrastructure issues, coordinate technical recovery, communicate business impact, and ensure root causes and corrective actions are addressed.
  • Develop and test infrastructure disaster recovery and continuity capabilities in partnership with business, application, cybersecurity, and site stakeholders.
  • Establish and enforce infrastructure engineering standards, architecture patterns, change control, configuration management, documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Partner with Cybersecurity on secure architecture, vulnerability remediation, access controls, segmentation, logging, and compliance requirements while maintaining clear accountability for infrastructure delivery and operations.
  • Manage infrastructure vendors and service providers, including technical evaluation, scoping, performance oversight, licensing, renewals, and cost optimization.
  • Provide concise, decision‑ready updates on project status, service health, risks, costs, dependencies, and recommended actions to IT leadership and business stakeholders.
Qualifications
