Qualifications

  • Pursuing bachelor’s degree in CS, engineering, math, finance, economics, business, or liberal arts.
  • GPA 3.3 or better.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency (eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship).
  • Available to work full-time June–August 2027.
  • Background check required.
  • No conflicting academic or employment commitments during internship.
  • Interest in project management, scoping projects, capturing Requirements, and defining use cases/UI/testing scenarios.
  • Experience/interest with Linux, UNIX, DBMS, Networking, and Mobile Computing.
  • Interest in AI and emerging technologies to improve infrastructure reliability and security.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements and design/implement tools with GETS, development, and business teams.
  • Learn from the project manager and mentor and contribute early to technology initiatives.
  • Interact with AB’s teams to understand infrastructure needs and deliver value promptly.
  • Interns will be integrated into the team and contribute to investment decision-making processes.

Job description

Who You’ll Work With

The Technology team provides computing, communications, infrastructure, services, support, and innovations that sustain high-quality research and diverse investment services for institutional investors and private clients. The team also supports AB’s employees. Technical roles in our New York City and Nashville locations have a high degree of interaction with our investment teams. The Operations team provides vital investment-management functions through more than two dozen offices located around the world. It’s dedicated to institutional investment-management services, private client administration, fund services, brokerage operations and change agents.

What You’ll Do

The Infrastructure Engineering Summer Intern within our Technology & Operations business unit will be gathering requirements and then designing and implementing the tools in collaboration with teams from GETS, as well as from development and other business areas. Interns will learn by working closely with their project manager, mentor, independent study, and team members. Projects may be with the following teams: Cyber Security Unit (CSU) Server and Desktop Technology Application/Web Hosting Database Management Messaging & Mobile Services Networking Desktop Engineering Platform Engineering Summer Interns contribute to and learn from AB’s innovative use of technology, deep research capabilities, global presence, and breadth of investment management expertise. The flat corporate structure allows Interns to become deeply integrated into the team and contribute meaningfully to investment decision-making early on in their careers.

What We’re Looking For
  • December 2026 through May/June 2027
  • Bachelor’s degree candidates in computer science, engineering, math, finance, economics, business, or liberal arts
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (must be able to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship now or in the future)
  • Candidates must be available to work full‑time from June through August
  • Selected candidates will need to successfully complete a thorough background check
  • It is not permissible to simultaneously take academic classes or hold other employment that will conflict with the internship schedule
  • Interest in project management, particularly with the scoping of projects, capturing and documenting requirements, and defining use cases, user interfaces, and testing scenarios
  • Experience and interest in working with sophisticated technology including Linux, UNIX, DBMS (Oracle, MS SQL or Sybase), Networking, and/or Mobile Computing
  • Interest in leveraging AI and emerging technologies to improve infrastructure reliability, automate operational processes, strengthen security and enhance the delivery of technology services
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
