Job summary

American Express in Alaska, USA is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement and maintain scalable data center and cloud-ready infrastructure. You will automate tasks with Python/PowerShell, collaborate across teams, and ensure compliance with internal standards.

Eligible candidates have 4+ years in engineering, hands-on VMware vCenter/ESXi experience, and strong scripting and deployment skills.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in a related engineering discipline.
• 2-4 years of VMware vCenter, ESXi experience.
• Experience configuring and maintaining servers (Cisco, HP, Dell, Intel).
• Hands-on experience with firmware/driver upgrades.
• Strong scripting in Python and/or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of SDLC methodologies and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Assess data center models to support business processes and communicate value.
• Maintain and upgrade existing virtual infrastructure (ESX/ESXi).
• Develop scripts in Python and PowerShell to automate tasks.
• Audit new product designs for AXP standards compliance.
• Continuously learn new technologies and apply them to challenges.
• Identify opportunities for service improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive projects, system readiness, deployment and testing.
• Work with global teams to support infrastructure projects.
• Contribute to multiple infrastructure initiatives concurrently.
• Troubleshoot accessibility issues and provide resolutions.
• Document system designs, procedures and recommendations.
