Job summary

Perplexity is seeking a seasoned infrastructure engineer to own and shape cross-cutting production systems that span compute, storage, and networking. You will design, build, and operate distributed infrastructure supporting real-time search, model serving, and enterprise workloads, guiding architectural direction and influencing multi-team efforts.

You will lead initiatives to improve performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency while mentoring others and driving standards across platforms.

Qualifications

• Own cross-cutting infrastructure problems that span compute, storage, networking, data, deployment, and reliability.
• Design, build, and operate distributed infrastructure supporting Perplexity’s consumer, AI, and enterprise workloads, from architecture to production.
• Identify gaps between existing platforms and build shared abstractions, automation, and tooling.
• Improve system performance, availability, scalability, and cost-efficiency across online and background workloads.
• Debug complex production issues across service and infrastructure boundaries and implement durable architectural improvements.
• Set technical direction for complex infrastructure systems and lead high-impact programs across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate distributed infrastructure supporting Perplexity’s workloads from architecture through production operation.
• Identify gaps between platforms and build shared abstractions, automation, and tooling for easier, safer use.
• Improve performance, availability, scalability, and cost-efficiency for online traffic and background jobs.
• Debug production incidents and translate findings into durable architectural improvements.
• Set technical direction for complex systems and lead programs across infrastructure, product, AI, and security teams.
