Job summary

Stealth Hardware/Robotics Startup in the Bay Area seeks a hands-on Senior IT & Infrastructure Engineer to own compute, CI/CD, monitoring, and lab systems. You will partner with an international DevOps counterpart to set standards and ensure 24/7 reliability.

The role covers Linux hosts, Jenkins, SaltStack, Docker/KVM, backups, AWS, and internal IT tooling while supporting engineers directly. On-site presence 3+ days per week is expected, with HITL test integration and firmware build support.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in IT ops, sysadmin, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering — spanning IT and engineering systems.
• Strong Linux/Bash administration + config management (SaltStack, Ansible, or similar).
• Production experience running CI/CD in GitHub and Jenkins.
• Production Grafana monitoring/alerting experience.
• Cloud administration at the org level (AWS preferred).

Responsibilities

• Own infrastructure and operations across Linux hosts, on-site lab equipment, Jenkins servers, SaltStack config, NFS, Docker/KVM virtualization, backups and DR.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for firmware/host images; integrate HITL tests and quality gates.
• Monitor and alert on infra health using Grafana; manage power, UPS, disks, and system faults.
• Manage AWS org-wide accounts, security audits, and cost reporting.
• Provide tier-1 internal IT support for SaaS tooling (1Password, GitHub/GitLab, Cursor) and vendor/compliance coordination.

Senior IT & Infrastructure Engineer — Stealth Hardware/Robotics Startup (Bay Area, CA)

Our client is an early-stage hardware and robotics engineering company building advanced sensing and positioning technology. Their engineering org needs someone to own the infrastructure that keeps it running.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership Infra/DevOps role, not a helpdesk job. You'll be the person engineers come to when compute, CI/CD, monitoring, or lab systems need to work — and you'll partner closely with an international DevOps counterpart on shared infrastructure standards.

What you'll own:

Infrastructure & Ops — Linux hosts, on-site lab equipment, Jenkins servers, SaltStack config management, NFS, Docker/KVM virtualization, backup & DR

CI/CD & Build Systems — GitHub + Jenkins pipelines for firmware and host images, quality gates (SonarScanner, Pytest), hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) test integration

Monitoring & Alerting — Grafana observability across infra and test environments; alerting on power states, UPS, disk, and infra faults

AWS & Cloud — org-wide account management, security audits, cost reporting

Internal IT — tier-1 support, SaaS tooling (1Password, GitHub, GitLab, Cursor), account provisioning, vendor/compliance coordination

You're a strong fit if you have:

• 5+ years in IT ops, sysadmin, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering — spanning both IT and engineering systems
• Strong Linux/Bash administration + config management (SaltStack, Ansible, or similar)
• Production experience running CI/CD in GitHub and Jenkins
• Production Grafana monitoring/alerting experience
• Cloud administration at the org level (AWS preferred)
• Comfort supporting a technical engineering team directly (tier-1)
• Based in the Bay Area, able to work on-site 3+ days/week
• Firmware/embedded team support, HITL test integration
• 5G/LTE telecom familiarity
• Early-stage/high-growth startup background
• SonarScanner/Pytest or Elasticsearch exposure
