Job summary

Huxley is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to lead the build-out of a modern AWS-based trading infrastructure in New York. You will own the lifecycle of cloud and on-prem hybrid systems, with emphasis on automation, security, and robust observability in a fast-paced trading environment.

You will collaborate with traders, researchers, and risk/compliance teams, driving reliability and performance across front-office operations. This is a ground-up, high-ownership role in Midtown Manhattan.

Location

Midtown Manhattan, NY

A rapidly growing and newly founded arm of a global trading and investment firm is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join its US business. Following the successful expansion of its international trading operations, the firm is investing heavily in its New York platform and is looking for its first dedicated Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of a critical infrastructure estate supporting front-office trading activity.

This is a unique opportunity to join a lean, high-performing team where you will work directly with senior technology leadership, quantitative researchers, traders, risk, and compliance professionals, helping to design and scale the infrastructure that underpins a live trading environment.

The Opportunity

As the firm's first dedicated infrastructure hire in the US, you'll play a key role in shaping and automating a modern AWS and hybrid infrastructure environment. This is not a maintenance-focused position. You'll be responsible for building, improving, and scaling systems from the ground up, ensuring security, performance, and reliability across mission-critical trading operations where technology directly impacts business performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and support AWS and hybrid cloud infrastructure
• Build and maintain infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code
• Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions
• Manage networking, connectivity, and security across cloud and on-prem environments
• Automate operational processes through scripting and tooling
• Partner closely with trading, quantitative research, risk, and compliance teams
• Drive infrastructure reliability, scalability, and operational excellence

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong background in Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering
• Experience within trading, capital markets, hedge funds, fintech, or broader financial services environments preferred
• Deep AWS expertise across architecture, deployment, and operations
• Strong Infrastructure as Code experience using CloudFormation and Ansible
• CI/CD pipeline experience, ideally with GitLab CI
• Monitoring and observability experience with Grafana, Prometheus, and CloudWatch
• Strong automation and scripting skills using Python and/or Bash
• Excellent networking fundamentals, including:
• VLANs
• VPNs
• Routing & Switching
• Firewall Policies

Experience with:

• Active Directory
• AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, Direct Connect, and Transit Gateway
• Strong preference for engineers who automate rather than manually administer environments
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools is advantageous
