Infrastructure Administrator
Company: CampusWorks, Inc.
Location: Mount Laurel, NJ
Work Arrangement: On-site | Full-time
Salary Range: $85,000–$92,000 annually
About the Opportunity
CampusWorks is seeking a skilled and motivated Infrastructure Administrator to support enterprise IT operations for one of our higher education clients in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.
This is a dynamic, hands‑on technical role that provides exposure to a broad range of enterprise technologies, including server infrastructure, virtualization, networking, cybersecurity, identity management, and cloud‑connected services.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Infrastructure Engineer and broader IT team to maintain critical infrastructure, troubleshoot complex technical challenges, and contribute to ongoing infrastructure modernization and technology improvement initiatives.
We are looking for someone who brings a strong technical foundation, takes ownership of their responsibilities, and is comfortable working across multiple technology disciplines in an evolving enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, troubleshoot, and support enterprise Windows Server environments and related infrastructure.
- Manage and support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Entra ID, and hybrid identity services.
- Support VMware, Hyper‑V, and other enterprise virtualization technologies.
- Maintain and troubleshoot enterprise networking infrastructure, including switches, VLANs, wireless networks, firewalls, VPNs, and network connectivity.
- Monitor infrastructure availability, performance, capacity, and security, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Support infrastructure security initiatives, including vulnerability remediation, patch management, system hardening, and access controls.
- Administer and maintain enterprise backup, storage, disaster recovery, and business continuity systems.
- Participate in infrastructure modernization projects, system migrations, technology deployments, and operational improvements.
- Develop and maintain scripts, automation, technical documentation, and standardized operational procedures.
- Collaborate with internal IT teams, technology vendors, and engineering resources to troubleshoot escalated issues and implement technical solutions.
- Perform hands‑on datacenter work, including server hardware installation, equipment maintenance, cabling, and physical troubleshooting.
- Participate in scheduled after‑hours maintenance and emergency support when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, systems administration, networking, or related technologies.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and core enterprise infrastructure services.
- Experience administering or supporting virtualization environments, such as VMware or Hyper‑V.
- Practical understanding of enterprise networking, including TCP/IP, switching, VLANs, wireless networking, firewalls, VPNs, and network troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with infrastructure security principles, vulnerability management, patching, and secure system configurations.
- Ability to independently investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues while recognizing when escalation or collaboration is appropriate.
- Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Willingness to work directly with physical infrastructure and datacenter equipment.
An associate degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of formal education.
Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial:
- Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Google Workspace, and hybrid cloud technologies.
- Enterprise networking platforms such as Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, or Ruckus.
- PowerShell, Python, Bash, or other scripting and automation technologies.
- Linux administration.
- Enterprise monitoring, RMM, endpoint management, and backup solutions.
- Cybersecurity operations, identity security, and infrastructure hardening.
- IT service management, change management, and incident response.
Relevant industry certifications are valued but are not required in place of demonstrated technical competency.
What We're Looking For
This is not a narrowly defined systems administration position. Infrastructure operations span multiple technology disciplines, and priorities evolve as projects, initiatives, and operational requirements change.
While strong systems administration and practical networking experience are important, we do not expect candidates to be experts in every technology listed.
We value technical curiosity, adaptability, sound troubleshooting methodology, accountability, and a willingness to continuously learn and expand existing skills.
The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, collaborating with other technical professionals, and contributing to meaningful improvements across an enterprise IT environment.
