Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking an Information Security Specialist to join a remote UK & Ireland team. In this role, you will mature and modernise the security programme, work with engineering, operations and business units, and ensure controls are effective in practice.

You will own ISO 27001 initiatives, identify gaps, validate control effectiveness, and support audits and ongoing compliance. A security-focused mindset and collaboration with technical teams are essential.

Qualifications

Are you passionate about building security rather than simply auditing it?

We're partnering with a fast-growing technology organisation looking for an experienced Information Security Specialist to help mature and modernise its security programme. This is an opportunity to join a small, highly visible security function where you'll work closely with engineering, technology, operations and business teams to ensure security controls are not just documented, but effective in practice.

Responsibilities

• Owning and continuously improving an established ISO 27001 programme
• Identifying and closing control and compliance gaps
• Validating that security controls are operating effectively, not just existing on paper
• Supporting audits, risk management and ongoing compliance activities
• Partnering with engineering, DevOps and business stakeholders

We're looking for someone who enjoys asking: "How do we know this control actually works?" rather than simply "Where's the policy?"

Ideal Background

• Information Security Analyst, Officer or Specialist experience
• Strong ISO 27001 knowledge and practical application
• Experience in security controls, assurance and implementation
• Security governance, risk management and compliance expertise
• Comfortable working alongside technical teams and understanding security controls in practice
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
