Job Title: IT - Project Manager

Job Summary

This is a fully‑qualified, career‑oriented Senior Project Manager position requiring mastery of journey‑level project management duties. The role encompasses responsible oversight of development and implementation of assigned projects, serving as a single point of contact, managing multi‑year projects with significant risk management, and handling formal partnering agreements with outside firms. Assignments have high visibility and demand extensive project management expertise.

Key Considerations

• Electric transmission tower build experience.
• Substation ground‑up build experience.
• 10+ years of project management in the utility field.
• SAP, Primavera P6, and Unifier experience.
• 100% onsite, but contractor may work hybrid (office not obligatory).
• Personal laptop accepted under PG&E BYOD program.
• Approx. 50% travel to conduct site visits and office collaboration.
• Commercial equipment (monitors, keyboard, mouse) provided at Oakland office; home use requires personal purchase.
• PG&E does not reimburse PPE, cell phone, or mileage for in‑office days.
• Mileage to project sites is an approved expense for reimbursement upon accrual.

Job Duties

• Determine that project objectives are achievable.
• Provide guidance to engineering on risk analysis, alternative studies, and conceptual designs for project sponsor.
• Oversee and administer EPC contracts per ESC Work Oversight Committee.
• Negotiate third‑party contracts to support other departments when appropriate.
• Develop and champion company‑wide best practices.
• Make presentations to PG&E officers as required.
• Arbitrate and resolve conflicts within the project.
• Mentor less experienced project managers.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Knowledge of land acquisition, CPUC and environmental permitting, and EPC contracting procedures.
• Superior ability to interface with supporting organizations and conduct formal presentations to officers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or equivalent.
• 8+ years of experience in project management, project controls, engineering, and/or construction (9+ years for outside hires).
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required; must be maintained for new entrants.
