JOB SUMMARY

Oversee the daily operations of the Information Technology Department and the I.T. Support Help Desk, including supervision of I.T. staff. Provide general network server administration, performing required administrative and technical duties related to the company-wide information technology system and the Information Technology Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Manage all activities related to Help Desk Support Services, maintaining information systems and related administrative processes, ensuring network-network connectivity and providing general network troubleshooting.
  • Process, document, follow through and resolve requests for technology-related issues.
  • Prepare annual IT budget and IT asset inventory, reviewing monthly and/or annual costs to ensure proper usage and billing.
  • Develop and maintain present and future technology plans for adherence to the organization strategic plan.
  • Develop and implement approved I.T. governance policies and standard operating procedures, ensuring that such policies/procedures are feasible as they pertain to the internet, email, network security, virus/malware control, end-user computing, and/or social networking, and for the delivery of mission related services.
  • Ensure integrity of computer systems security, providing general industry standard network security that includes the use of firewalls, virus/malware and intrusion protection, spam filtering, logical access solutions, and internet connectivity, while maintaining server and user backups.
  • Provide general network server administration and maintenance of server and end user desktop and workstation backups.
  • Develop and maintain department standards and procedures; assign work to I.T. staff, ensuring sound management of computer hardware and software between all departments and company locations.
  • Coordinate the management of all technology that may include LANs, WANs, VPNs, Virtualization, DNS, T-1, Email, VoIP and other networking devices or systems as appropriate.
  • Retain, direct and evaluate the work of outside vendors in the delivery of I.T. support services and relevant equipment for remedial action or repair & maintenance.
  • Arrange for attendant installation and maintenance of telephone/voice components and new data/voice cabling
  • Ensure the continuation or availability of company’s I.T. resources to the various Goodwill Central Coast worksites and operations, and the control of onsite I.T. assets including the development, implementation, and testing of a comprehensive disaster recovery plan.
  • Provide back-up e-mail support and assist in its delivery.
  • Recognize, identify, isolate and resolve problems with information systems products and services; recommend upgrades, patches, or new software applications, as appropriate.
  • Perform needs assessments: Assist in the design and implementation of hardware and software, computer and network or communication solutions to improve on the technological adaptations of Goodwill Central Coast, making recommendations and aiding in their evaluation by senior management.
  • Provide technical assistance and advice to staff regarding future growth of information technology, voice/data systems, and hardware and software selection and/or upgrades.
  • Ensure the efficiency, security, and achieving of IT organizational goals within the scope of the technology plan and standard operating procedures, including establishment of action plans and priorities
  • Maintain the necessary documentation of the system technology in place or in development, including inventory logs of hardware, software, and required information about end users as to be able to identify problems.
  • Maintain hardware/software support contracts and schedules maintenance as required.
  • Maintain and develop libraries, depots and storage for software and hardware.
  • Provide I.T.-related training to employees on group and individualized basis, as needed.
  • Assist with Goodwill Central Coast domains, SSL security and operation, expansion, integration and ongoing maintenance of the organization website.
  • Supervise staff, including the selection, promotion, demotion, discipline/termination, training (including safety) performance appraisal and salary change recommendations for staff, according to company policy.
  • Complete and submit required paperwork to ensure proper administration of established systems. Process payroll for employees, maintaining confidentiality in this and all other personnel related functions and procedures.
  • Develop a safe work environment through training staff in safe work practices, communicating periodic safety information, and performing safety inspections.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in an IT-related field, or equivalent.
  • LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQ’D: Valid California Class C driver’s license; MSCE, CISCO or other I.T. related certification is preferred.
  • EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum of five years progressively responsible I.T. experience, including Microsoft network administration with Active Directory and programming and software proficiencies.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, especially Windows Server.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft products, Microsoft Office, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Exchange Share Point Services (WSS), and various antivirus products.
  • Knowledge of networking operating protocols and software utility applications, firewalls, switching, and routing techniques.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts and best practices and procedures in the IT field, including security and intrusion protection.
  • Good general working knowledge of computer and networking hardware.
  • Familiarity with Goodwill Central Coast’s mission, general Company policies and procedures (this may be learned on-the-job).

  • Ability to drive a vehicle in the transaction of company business. This requires a good driving record and may require the ability to provide evidence of personal vehicle liability insurance.
  • Ability to adhere to safe work practices as documented in Company safety policies; ability to report safety hazards/accidents promptly to supervisor or safety committee member.
