Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. seeks an IT Systems Manager to lead enterprise IT for DoE/NNSA programs in Washington, D.C. The role requires strong virtualization, storage, security, and cloud skills, with a focus on reliability and policy compliance.

On-site work in DC is required and a U.S. citizenship with eligible clearance is expected. You will manage a team of systems professionals, drive performance, and coordinate ITIL/DevOps practices while shaping strategic IT

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree; substitution of years of experience may be permissible.
• 10+ years of related professional work experience.
• Extensive experience with VMware for virtualization, deployment, management and troubleshooting.
• Strong storage expertise (SAN/NAS/backup).
• Hands-on with Commvault for enterprise backup and recovery.
• Proficiency in Windows and Linux server environments.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Knowledge of databases (SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls).
• IT security principles, compliance and best practices.
• Experience with ITIL and DevOps; SLA/OLA and service delivery.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

Required Experience:

• 10+ years of related professional work experience

Required Technical Skills:

• Must have extensive experience with VMware for virtualization, including deployment, management, and troubleshooting.
• Must have strong expertise in storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and backup solutions.
• Must have hands‑on experience with Commvault for enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V, etc.).
• Knowledge of database management systems (SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
• Proficiency in networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Strong knowledge of IT security principles, compliance, and best practices.
• Experience with ITIL frameworks and DevOps methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience with SLA/OLA management, Knowledge Management. Service Delivery, Continuous Service Improvement, and Problem Management

Security Clearance Level:

• U.S. Citizenship Required
• Possess Q or TS level clearance (or their equivalency) with the ability to obtain a Q level clearance within six (6) months of hiring
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain such clearance as a condition of employment
