Job summary

Cleared2Hire | The GovTech Talent Platform is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our Columbia, Maryland team. This role offers remote work with local candidates and onsite attendance as needed, supporting DoD systems across networks and cloud environments.

You will apply RMF, implement NIST SP 800-53 controls and DISA STIGs, and develop security artifacts. A Secret clearance and IAT Level II certification are required, with experience in eMASS and Xacta to support

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance required.
• IAT Level II certification (e.g., SSCP, Security+, CCNA-Security, GSEC).
• Experience with DoD RMF system accreditation.
• Knowledge of DISA STIGs, SRGs and NIST SP 800-53.

Responsibilities

• Support secure system and network designs across multiple classification levels.
• Support RMF assessment and authorization activities.
• Develop and maintain authorization documentation and security artifacts.
• Apply DISA STIGs, SRGs, and NIST SP 800-53 controls.
• Assess vulnerabilities using automated scanning and vulnerability management tools.
• Use eMASS and Xacta to support authorization workflows.
• Translate security requirements into practical technical controls.

Help design and secure complex Department of Defense systems spanning distributed networks and cloud environments. This opportunity combines security engineering, risk management, vulnerability remediation, and system authorization.

What you’ll do

• Support secure system and network designs across multiple classification levels.
• Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) assessment and authorization activities.
• Develop and maintain authorization documentation and security artifacts.
• Apply DISA STIGs, Security Requirements Guides, and NIST SP 800-53 controls.
• Assess vulnerabilities using automated scanning and vulnerability management tools.
• Use eMASS and Xacta to support authorization workflows.
• Translate security requirements into practical technical controls.

Required qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance.
